What Patients Can Expect

"If Matria had not been monitoring me for early contractions, I wouldn’t have known that I was contracting early. As a result of Matria’s service, I gave birth at 34 weeks instead of 29 weeks, and I was able to take my twins home in two days."

Matria’s goal is to help patients achieve optimal pregnancy outcomes. Here’s what patients can expect from Matria Obstetrical Homecare Services:

1. Coordination of Insurance – A Matria representative contacts patients to help with insurance authorization, processing of claims and special needs. A co-pay may be required.

2. Nurse Visit – Matria sends skilled, experienced nurses to patients’ homes on an as-needed basis. Nurses are also available 24/7 via a toll-free telephone number and will spend whatever time is necessary with patients to answer all of their questions.

Nurses also provide:

  • Assessments of mother and infant and set-up equipment if necessary
  • Educational guidance on the patient’s condition, self-monitoring, compliance with medications, side-effect management and nutritional needs

3. Medication & Equipment Delivery – All pumps, monitoring equipment or medication will be delivered to patients’ homes.

4. Educational Materials – Matria provides educational materials about medical conditions, equipment and medications.

5. Follow-up – Nurses contact patients regularly to conduct ongoing assessments, provide emotional support or answer questions.
