Approximately 50 percent of women experience NVP to some extent, with up to 2 percent of women having severe NVP (hyperemesis) requiring long-term and aggressive treatment of the condition. Matria’s Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy Program provides home-based treatment, early intervention and an appropriate program of continuous subcutaneous medication via microinfusion pump and nutrition for patients experiencing this condition. As a result, patients require fewer antepartum hospitalizations and emergency room visits, which reduces overall healthcare costs. Matria follows a critical pathway approach to patient care.
