Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy Program

"Matria’s nurses offer daily care and support that my office could not possibly provide. As a result, I view Matria NVP program as an extension of my practice."

Without management, severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy (NVP) can jeopardize the physical and emotional health of a woman and impact her unborn infant. Approximately 50 percent of women experience NVP to some extent, with up to 2 percent of women having severe NVP (hyperemesis) requiring long-term and aggressive treatment of the condition.

Matria’s Nausea and Vomiting in Pregnancy Program provides home-based treatment, early intervention and an appropriate program of continuous subcutaneous medication via microinfusion pump and nutrition for patients experiencing this condition. As a result, patients require fewer antepartum hospitalizations and emergency room visits, which reduces overall healthcare costs.

Matria follows a critical pathway approach to patient care. Critical pathways include:

  • Hydration therapy
  • Antiemetic therapy
  • Total intravenous nutrition
